12 textile and apparel companies from the Aegean Region enter Turkey’s export champions league

Twelve textile and ready-to-wear companies from Turkey’s Aegean Region have secured a place in the 2024 TİM Top 1000 Exporters List, often referred to as the “Champions League of Turkish Exports,” accounting for 66% of the country’s total exports. Despite global economic challenges and sectoral contraction, these firms have demonstrated exceptional performance in 2024.

Nine companies are members of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, while three firms from Denizli represent the region’s strength in textile and apparel exports.

Üniteks Tekstil climbs to second place in apparel exports

İzmir-based Üniteks Tekstil Gıda Sanayi ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş. rose three spots in the national apparel export rankings, advancing from fifth place in 2023 to second in 2024. The company also ranked 117th overall among Turkey’s top exporters, maintaining its position as a leading force in the industry.

Sun Tekstil achieves 89% export growth, leaps 103 spots

Facing inflation and a slowdown in key European markets, Turkey’s apparel exports fell by 7% in 2024. However, Sun Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., based in İzmir, defied the trend. The company boosted its exports from $119 million to $224.3 million—a remarkable 89% increase.

Sun Tekstil climbed nine spots in the apparel sector to claim third place nationally and jumped 103 spots overall to secure the 123rd position in the TİM list.

Ekoten and Uçak Tekstil post record-breaking growth

Ekoten Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., which entered the TİM list in 2023 at rank 977, rose 424 places to reach 553rd in 2024. The company’s exports grew by 79%, reaching $56 million. Ekoten also advanced 27 spots in the textile and raw materials sector, now ranking 17th.

Another Aegean success story, Uçak Tekstil Turizm İth. İhr. San. ve Tic. A.Ş., more than doubled its exports from $53.5 million to $120.7 million—an increase of 126%. This surge moved the company up 307 ranks to 242nd overall and placed it 5th in the textile and raw materials sector.

Denizli and Uşak firms make the list

From Denizli, Filidea Tekstil, Sürü Tekstil, and Ozanteks Tekstil joined the top 1000 exporters. Meanwhile, Uşak-based Balta Orient Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş. ranked 9th in Turkey’s carpet export category and was one of only two firms from Uşak on the list.

Other standout exporters from İzmir included Fore Uluslararası Pazarlama, Menderes Tekstil, and İşbir Sentetik Dokuma.

Sertbaş: “A strong signal that Turkish apparel exports are alive and well”

Burak Sertbaş, Chairman of the Aegean Apparel Exporters’ Association, emphasized the significance of these achievements: “Despite the headwinds in our industry, the continued success of these firms is clear proof that Turkish apparel exports remain resilient and vital.”

Looking ahead, Sertbaş announced that Turkey will organize a national participation event at the PV Manufacturing New York Fair on July 15–16, 2025, with 12 Turkish firms. “We aim to reverse the downward trend in exports with international fairs, buyer delegations, and trade missions,” he said.
