A Brave Defender Lost His Life in Donetsk Region

Serhii Kvitka, a 33-year-old Ukrainian soldier known by the call sign “Advokat,” was killed in action on March 17, 2024, near the village of Ivanivske in Donetsk region. He served as a mortar operator in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Ivan Sirko. Serhii died from fatal blast injuries sustained during a battle against Russian occupying forces.

He had joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2023, leaving behind his peaceful civilian life to defend his homeland in the full-scale war.

A Life Devoted to Family, Duty, and Country

Born and raised in the city of Kharkiv, Serhii graduated from the Kharkiv Vocational Assembly and Construction Lyceum. In civilian life, he worked as a logistics courier. He cherished spending time with his family and was especially passionate about fishing, a pastime he often enjoyed with his son.

In March 2023, motivated by a deep sense of patriotism and responsibility, Serhii volunteered to join the military. His courage and dedication quickly earned him the respect of his comrades.

“He Was Irreplaceable”

“Serhii was a brave man and a true patriot of his country. He was the best father and husband—kind, sincere, and always willing to help others. No one will ever be able to replace him,” his wife, Maryna, said.

Serhii Kvitka was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd Class, for his service and sacrifice.

Farewell on the Alley of Glory

He was laid to rest with military honors at the Alley of Glory in Cemetery No. 18 in his hometown of Kharkiv. Hundreds attended his funeral to pay tribute to the fallen defender.

Back home, his wife and young son were waiting for their hero. His memory lives on in their hearts—and in the soul of a nation that refuses to forget.
