From a Village in Simav to the Commando Brigades
Hüseyin Cankaya spent his childhood and formative years in Yeniköy, a village in the Simav district of Kütahya. After completing his education, he joined the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), choosing the difficult path of a professional commando. Throughout his career, he served in various security and safety missions along Turkey's borders and in cross-border operations. The operation was designed to permanently neutralize the threat of terrorist elements on Turkey’s border. On May 24, 2022, during a mission in the Zap region, his unit made contact with terrorists. In the ensuing firefight, Hüseyin Cankaya was martyred. A Hero's Farewell in His Hometown
After a military ceremony in Hakkâri, the body of Martyr Cankaya was brought to his hometown of Yeniköy.
