ANKARA, TURKEY — Following recent controversial statements by DEM Party Imrali delegation member Pervin Buldan to T24, Duran Kalkan, a ringleader of the PKK terrorist organization, has issued a new wave of threats targeting Turkey and its government.
In statements broadcasted by the terrorist organization's media outlets, Kalkan claimed that the Turkish government would eventually "surrender," arguing that Ankara's tactical approaches would bring "disaster" to the country. The remarks reveal a synchronized narrative between the terrorist group and its political extensions, aiming to pressure the state regarding potential new legal regulations.
Claims of "disaster" through tactical approaches
Speaking to the organization's mouthpiece, Kalkan alleged that the current government lacks a strategic approach to the ongoing processes. He claimed that the government is acting solely within the framework of daily tactics and political interests, which he described as highly dangerous.
"One minute they say there is no need to rush. The next they say it must be done very quickly. There is instability. It is obvious they are not approaching the process strategically. A tactical approach will bring disaster to Turkey."
Kalkan asserted that his organization is determined to force a "change and transformation," threatening that those who resist this agenda will ultimately lose.
Threats framed through Middle Eastern regimes
Dedicating a significant portion of his remarks to regional developments and conflicts in the Middle East, Kalkan claimed that the nation-state system is collapsing. Citing the falls of Saddam Hussein, Hosni Mubarak, and Muammar Gaddafi, the terrorist leader also included Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in this alleged process of liquidation.
Kalkan went on to claim that Turkey was the founding model of this nation-state system, which he alleges is now being dismantled. "Iran has come to this point, and Turkey is next. Turkey is already in the middle of all these events. It is a great illusion not to see this," he stated, attempting to frame the terrorist group's regional agenda within broader geopolitical shifts.
Demands for legal steps and claims of a "referendum"
Kalkan further claimed that Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the terrorist organization, had declared the "second stage" of the process. In this context, Kalkan demanded that the Turkish Grand National Assembly take legal steps to pave the way for what he termed "democratic politics." He accused the government of employing stalling tactics and waging a psychological war through the press.
The terrorist leader also referenced the March 8 and Newroz celebrations, claiming that large masses supported Ocalan's call made on February 27, 2025. Kalkan alleged that these celebrations served as a "referendum," baselessly claiming that the organization's mass support was clearly visible.
